On May 26, 2026, the State Designer Selection Board voted to forward two finalists — DLR Group and BWBR — to the University of Minnesota for the final selection on Project 2602, the dental school renovation at Moose Tower.
The board interviewed three teams for the project and then held a formal roll-call vote in which each member selected two teams. Chair said she was “impressed across the board” after the interviews, and one committee member said the decision “came down to experience in some of their work plans” despite all three firms having relevant expertise.
Clerk Kenya called the roll and members announced their two choices. The announced ballots and tally were: Steve — DLR and Alliance; Scott — BWBR and Alliance; Sarah — DLR and BWBR; Susan — DLR and BWBR; Ted — DLR and Alliance; Paul — DLR and BWBR; Bill — DLR and BWBR. The Clerk announced the final tally: DLR Group received 6 votes, BWBR received 5 votes, and Alliance received 3 votes. As a result, DLR Group and BWBR were selected as the two finalists to be forwarded to the University of Minnesota for its final decision.
The board’s action was a forward of finalists only; the University of Minnesota retains authority to select the design team and contract. The meeting adjourned after the vote.
