Penfield board issues proclamations for Independence 250th, Juneteenth and Pride Month; ribbon-cutting set for restored Alpheus Clark House

The Penfield Town Board adopted three proclamations at its June 3 meeting: recognition of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a Juneteenth proclamation, and a Pride Month proclamation read by an eighth-grade student.
Supervisor Kevin Barry read and signed the Declaration of Independence proclamation recognizing local efforts by the Mary Fellows Penfield Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Terry Bruno, regent of the Mary Fellows Penfield Chapter, described the chapter's work to locate and clean the graves of local patriots and invited community members to an August demonstration on grave-cleaning.
For Pride Month, Jasper Hooks, an eighth-grader at Bay Trail Middle School, joined the board to read the proclamation and identify his school's OQSA club. The board encouraged residents to observe Pride Month and Juneteenth and to participate in community events.
The board also announced a ribbon-cutting on June 10 (3:30 PM) for the completed rehabilitation of the Alpheus Clark House at Shadow Pines (675 Whalen Road); the facility will be open to the public for viewing after the ceremony.
