The Penfield Town Board on June 3 authorized a phase two environmental site assessment (ESA) for a privately held property at 1200 Empire Boulevard, a parcel the board said sits adjacent to town-owned parkland. The authorization was moved, seconded and passed by recorded ayes of the five board members present.
During the meeting resident Joshua Marvel asked which property the ESA would cover. Officials responded that the ESA covers the site at 1200 Empire Boulevard, adjacent to town-owned parkland, and said the purpose of the ESA is to provide the information the town needs to consider whether to acquire the site.
The board renumbered the agenda item during discussion to 26T-118; the motion as recorded authorized staff to proceed with the Phase II assessment. The board asked that staff report the ESA findings back to the board once available.
No purchase decision was made at the meeting; the ESA is an investigative step to inform any future acquisition decision.
