Joliet manager previews multimillion-dollar water and road contracts, consent items for council review

At the pre-council meeting the City Manager listed several items scheduled for the next day’s council meeting, including contract awards and routine purchases that will appear on the consent agenda.
Beth Batie outlined engineering and construction items: an amendment to construction-engineering services for the Southeast Joliet Sanitary District water system ($94,200 to Baxter & Woodman, county ARPA funds), and an award for the Southeast Joliet water-system improvement project to Austin Tyler for $2,982,535.68, which the city said would be reimbursed by the county. She also previewed the 2026 Roadways Resurfacing Contract A to PT Ferro Construction ($2,434,217.87) and an award for the Ottawa Street parking garage painting to Kasgro Construction ($190,625).
Other consent items listed included emergency Jefferson Street sewer repairs to Aries Inc. ($260,545.62), purchase orders for 2026 automotive batteries and related services to Fleet Pride Inc. ($60,000) and fleet tires and tire services ($200,000), and a downtown Special Service Area study to SB Friedman Development Advisors ($54,260).
Batie also previewed a small property-acquisition resolution for the Farrell Road over Spring Creek Bridge improvement ($3,600), an intergovernmental agreement with Kendall County for $70,312 to resurface a Ridge Road multi-use path (City share $14,062), and a final amendment to a five-year property tax abatement for Supermercados El Guero de Joliet covering tax years 2025–2029.
These items were presented as matters to be considered at the council meeting; the pre-council discussion did not record final votes.
