Montgomery trustees approve special-use permits, UDO tweak and two truck purchases

Montgomery’s Village Board on May 26 approved several land-use ordinances and authorized two vehicle purchases, while also scheduling an executive session to discuss real property acquisition.
Staff presented Ordinance 2180, a second reading that would grant a special use for outdoor storage and a materials-variation for two proposed buildings on a site owned by Cordderero Real Estate LLC; staff said the ordinance was revised to give the village engineer flexibility on a required water-main loop. Trustees voted to approve the ordinance unanimously.
The board also approved Ordinance 2181 on second reading, a special-use permit for Cordderero Real Estate and JPC Treatare that staff said was revised after board feedback to allow maximum storage heights of 15 feet and 18 feet in specified locations and to incorporate the same water-main extension revision adopted in the prior ordinance.
Separately, Director Ab summarized amendments to the village’s unified development ordinance (Ordinance 2183) tied to vehicle impact protections; staff said the exhibit illustrations were adjusted so ballards/bollards appear in black rather than yellow to improve legibility. Trustees approved the amendment on second reading.
On equipment, the board approved the purchase of a Peterbilt 548 single-axle truck procured through the Sourcewell cooperative to replace an end-of-life vehicle used by public works. The transcript lists the purchase amount as “$146,98162,” which appears to be a transcription formatting error; staff described the truck as a multiuse replacement (a dump body replacing a permanent mount V-box spreader), confirmed it will include a wing, and said final upfitting is expected in 2027 after initial delivery in October–November.
The board then approved the upfitting contract for that truck with Maro Truck Equipment, Inc. (Monroe truck equipment referenced) for $173,786 through Sourcewell procurement. Trustees voted to approve the upfitting contract unanimously.
All board roll-call votes reported in the meeting were recorded as carried unanimously (six yes votes). The board recessed into executive session later in the meeting to discuss the acquisition of real property under the exemption cited in the transcript.
