The board also appointed Maran (Maryanne) Austine to a fifth-grade elementary teacher position at Master step 19 with a listed salary of $68,359 effective Sept. 1, 2024 through June 30, 2028, and noted her roughly 20 years of experience and planned role supporting science instruction across grade levels.
Quinn Stevens was approved as a temporary uncertified music teacher (substitute rate) for Sept. 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025; staff said Stevens has an undergraduate background that could support math instruction and that the district will return to the board for a probationary appointment once certification results are received.
The board appointed Gabriel (Gabby) Courier to a provisional civil service typist position effective Aug. 17, 2024 at $18.68 per hour and discussed that the appointment is provisional while the district awaits civil service test results; the meeting record shows two abstentions on this item (Donna and Jared) and the motion was announced as passing with five in favor and two abstentions.
Most teaching and administrative appointments were approved unanimously by voice vote; where certification was pending, the board used temporary or provisional appointments with the commitment to revisit status when credentials are confirmed.
