Caledonia board approves consent agenda, ISD budget, flooring and synthetic turf contracts

At its May 18 meeting the Caledonia Community Schools Board of Education approved multiple routine and capital items, including the consent agenda, an intermediate school district budget resolution, and several construction and service contracts.

The board approved the consent agenda (minutes, payables and personnel reports) by roll call. A member recognized several longtime district teachers who are retiring this year.

The board then approved a resolution supporting the Kent ISD 2026-27 budget, a required annual action under state law.

On facility contracts the board approved a contract with River City Flooring Company for supply and installation of flooring at the Duncan Lake Early Childhood Center at a stated cost of $280,146; trustees clarified those funds will come from public improvement funds rather than bond proceeds.

The board also approved a contract with AstroTurf Great Lakes to replace synthetic turf at the Scotland facility. The transcript records the contract cost as "$782,000"; later in the same motion the cents portion was unclear in the record. Board members said installation will begin at the end of June to be ready for the fall athletic season.

Finally the board approved a negotiated contract with the Caledonia Operations Group; trustees said the item had been discussed in closed session the previous week.

All recorded voice votes and roll calls on these items showed the motion carried. Board members did not request additional public hearings on these routine annual or maintenance items.

Actions recorded in the meeting will be reflected in official minutes and contract documents maintained by district administration.
