Council to consider waiver for new event venue at KeyBank Commons with conditions

City staff described a special land use waiver under zoning code section 6.14 for a proposed banquet/event facility (about 4,300 square feet) at KeyBank Commons Plaza near Six Mile and Newberg roads. Planner Tony Mina told council that the Planning Commission approved the petition with a stipulation that any waiver be limited to the current petitioner and not transferable without council approval. Alphonso Winkler, who said he and his wife operate an event-decor business, told council the venue will host community programming during the week and planned evening events would end by 10 p.m. with cleanup by 11 p.m. He said the facility will not sell alcohol directly but will require a licensed bartender if alcohol is served.
