Zephr Hills youth council raises $11,000 for CHIPS; city highlights volunteer partnership

Mayor Monson and event organizers described a community-wide effort that included more than 20 local businesses, meals prepared by volunteers and in-kind donations. Kathy McKenzie, CHIPS coordinator, said funds will provide immediate assistance for housing needs, clothing and utilities. A program beneficiary, identified as Charles, described receiving help that allowed him to move back to Zephr Hills after a period of homelessness.
Council and staff praised the youth volunteers, Main Street and local nonprofit partners; the mayor said the event demonstrated local civic capacity and community care. The council presented a check and took recognition photos at the meeting.
