Wauseon department heads report on ambulance repairs, fire and community safety events

Chief Kessle told council the city secured approval to repair the ambulance and expects work to start in December after coordination with finance and insurance. Chief Kessle also announced that part-time firefighter Jordan Rodriguez passed his EMT certification this week and now holds both firefighting and EMT credentials. Kessle reminded the council that the seasonal burn ban is currently in effect because conditions are dry.
Chief Chittenden summarized recent and upcoming community-safety outreach: a women’s self-defense class held at the high school, a domestic violence 5K for the Center for Child and Family Advocacy, a 'road to wellness' event at the senior center, and an October 25 drug takeback day. The police chief said staff will continue community engagement efforts tied to these events.
Councilors asked a few operational questions but took no formal action; the reports were informational and intended to keep council and the public aware of service needs and schedules.
