ARB approves one-story addition for GSL Shop on Springs Fireplace Road

The East Hampton Architectural Review Board voted to approve a one-story addition to the GSL Shop on Springs Fireplace Road, a commercial corridor with multiple existing businesses. Frank Itard introduced the item and noted the application had been reviewed and approved by the town planning board. The applicant’s representative, Jean Gante of Gante Land Planning, confirmed the design will match the existing stucco and brown metal trim and that landscaping will screen the expanded parking area.
During the review a board member asked for the square footage of the proposed addition; the applicant said the addition was 1,200 square feet. Later in the meeting a motion referenced “12,200 foot addition,” an inconsistency the board and staff noted to resolve in the written resolution. Members otherwise found the materials, roof pitch and elevations appropriate to the existing structure and reiterated that site-plan approval had already been granted by the planning board.
A board member moved to approve the application as presented for the addition and elevations; the motion was seconded and passed. The board asked staff to ensure the resolution records the correct square footage (applicant-stated 1,200 sq ft vs. apparent motion transcription of 12,200) and to include the planning-board conditions in the final permit package.
