The Town Council approved a parks and recreation contract on June 1 to repair bridges and boardwalk sections on the Buffalo Creek greenway.
Parks staff reported they received a $30,000 open-space grant from Johnston County to help pay for the work. Staff solicited quotes for the repairs; the low responsive quote for bridge and boardwalk repairs came back at $44,500. Parks staff said they can fund the town match with $14,500 from current-year capital savings (previously saved from court resurfacing and fencing projects).
Council voted to authorize staff to enter an agreement with Manuel Solless to perform the Greenway Bridges and Boardwalk Repairs Project and directed staff to proceed with procurement and contract execution.
According to staff, the work will be performed with current-year funds and the grant; timing details and construction scheduling will be coordinated with the contractor and parks operations.
