On June 3 the City Council committee authorized the city to acquire 252 Jessurum Street at the appraised market value using capital improvement education funds and to incorporate the parcel into Robert F. Kennedy School property to assist with student pick-up and circulation.
Director of Real Estate Nick Cicatelli said the city is using capital improvement education funds to acquire the property at the appraised value the seller is honoring and that the intention is to incorporate it into the school to address circulation issues. "So the city is using the capital improvement education funds to acquire this at a market sale. It's the appraised value that the seller is honoring and the intention is to incorporate this into the Robert F. Kennedy School to assist with the circulation issue with student and pick up track," Cicatelli said.
Councilmember Peterson addressed the neighborhood impact and noted that the homeowner has chosen to move; Peterson said the family had contributed to the neighborhood and acknowledged potential impacts on the family's quality of life while expressing support for the expansion to benefit the school. The committee also voted to enter exhibit number one and testimony from the Robert F. Kennedy Parent Teacher Organization into the record before approving the acquisition. The motion to enter the record and the motion to approve both carried by voice vote.
The acquisition is financed from capital improvement education funds; the transcript does not state the purchase price or a closing date. The committee did not identify additional funding contingencies at the meeting.
