The Common Council granted a Special Event Permit on June 2 to Route 41 Bar & Grill for the "Hot Rods and Heroes" car show scheduled for June 21, 2026, with a set of safety and logistics conditions recommended by community development staff and the license committee.
Alderman Ritz summarized the modifications requested after the item was held at a prior meeting: remove event participation and parking activities from the west side of 27th Street, submit a revised parking plan for participants and patrons, provide written permission from property owners allowing parking on private parcels, and coordinate with the Oak Creek Police Department regarding paid off-duty officers for traffic and parking control. Community development staff advised the event could draw 300–400 people and stressed the need for off-duty police presence and a safe pedestrian plan because there is no sidewalk on 27th Street.
Captain Andrew Thorne of the Oak Creek Police Department confirmed the department had received the off-duty request and that management at Route 41 had agreed in principle to the cost estimate for two off-duty officers and two marked vehicles for an eight-hour period; the police department requires 10 days' notice to staff off-duty details. Council's motion included those conditions and authorized staff to finalize the temporary-use permit once the conditions were satisfied.
The permit was approved by roll call with the stated conditions; staff said they will sign off once the off-duty contract, revised parking plan and written property-owner permissions are provided.
