At the May board meeting, AVID program staff presented springtime outcomes: the senior AVID cohort numbered 139 students, who applied to 566 colleges and were accepted to 531 offers—an acceptance rate presented at 94 percent. Administration reported more than $26 million in scholarship offers to AVID students and that students accepted over $7 million of that amount.
Staff emphasized the program’s role in college preparation and support, and three graduating seniors read essays describing how AVID helped them grow academically and socially. Isabella (Bella) Chandler said AVID was more than a checklist of traits and described how teachers and the program community helped her gain confidence and public‑speaking skills. Other seniors recounted AVID’s role helping first‑generation students navigate college applications and financial aid.
Board members thanked presenters and praised the students’ essays and program outcomes.
