Council greenlights consent items including facade grant, surplus radio sale and board reappointments

The Geneseo City Council on Aug. 26 recommended placement of several routine consent items on the council agenda and approved them by roll call within the meeting's committee session.
Facade improvement: Councilmember Barnhart moved to recommend approval of a facade improvement grant of up to $10,000 for 101 South State Street (State Street Development LLC, Bryce Henderson). The motion was seconded by Swanson and passed on a unanimous roll‑call vote. Staff said the project will replace second‑floor windows and repaint window frames and noted the first floor will house a bridal shop with a second‑floor residential buildout.
Surplus police radios: Staff sought authority to dispose of or transfer obsolete police radios now replaced by Starcom‑compatible equipment. Council approved the resolution to allow the city to sell or transfer the radios at fair prices to partners; the motion passed unanimously on roll call.
Board appointments: The mayor’s recommendations to reappoint Chris Indris to the police commission (term through Sept. 2028) and Gary Bell, Joe Bedford and Julia Makavoy to the planning‑zoning board (terms through 2030) were recommended for the council consent agenda and passed by unanimous roll‑call vote.
Payment of bills: Council approved the motion to pay city and utility bills (motion by Swanson, second by Samoski) on a unanimous roll call.
Roll‑call tallies for the recorded measures were unanimous in favor with the following members voting yes: Rothschild, Kennet, Swanson, Barnhart, Rud House, James and Samowski.
