Council adopts Prairie Park rules and ends inactive volunteer agreement

The Geneseo City Council voted unanimously Aug. 26 to adopt a map and rules for Prairie Park’s trail system and to terminate a 2015 agreement with the "friends of off‑road Cycling (fork)" that staff said has not been active.
Staff presented two resolutions: one establishing the public park boundaries and formal trail map and rules, and a second rescinding the outdated Fork volunteer agreement so the city can pursue a clearer, current volunteer framework. "If Fork ever wanted to come back to the table to discuss being part of a volunteer group, we would certainly be open to that," staff said while recommending termination of the old agreement.
Councilmember Barnhart moved to approve the resolutions; Kennet seconded, and the council approved both measures on roll call. Staff said several residents and organization representatives, including offers of help from a local church, have expressed interest in serving on a new volunteer maintenance team.
