Under Board Policy 6255 (donations, gifts and grants to the district), the superintendent accepted the Hopinson donation on the board's behalf. Board members thanked the donors; the Lucy Fund donation was described as one of three installments that will cover the roughly $60,000 cost of the Washington, D.C., trip. The district said the Lucy family's fund was structured so interest would pay for the trip and that the family will be recognized with a civic engagement award at a June 23 luncheon.
Personnel consent items were presented and approved under the consent agenda, including resignations and retirements. Board members acknowledged Buffy Mayorca, who announced her retirement after more than 30 years of service to the district.
