"We added more to make it a little bit more extensive," said a finance committee representative during the report to council. Councilor Brendan Terina moved the spending motion, which was seconded by Sarah Heising. The motion carried unanimously: six yays, zero nays.
Council members discussed scheduling the celebration before Independence Day to avoid staffing and storage conflicts. "The city employees are off on the third and the second is a little bit more friendly to the fire department," Councilor Sarah Heising said in explaining support for a July 2 date. The council voted to set the fireworks celebration for July 2, 2026; the motion was seconded by Brendan Terina and passed unanimously.
The council did not discuss vendor selection or a detailed program schedule at the meeting. Further logistical details and a vendor contract, if any, were not specified and will be determined in follow-up staff work.
