Board hears details of largest PTO legacy gift, earmarked for school projects

Superintendent Dr. Garbe told trustees that the district is the recipient of a multi‑year PTO "legacy gift" and described planned uses for the funds.
"That amount that we are being bestowed is $185,000 is coming to the district," Dr. Garbe said at the June 3 meeting, and he described intended allocations including an aquaponic system for a middle‑school science lab, a library refresh at Conover Road Primary and outdoor playground work at Connor Road Elementary.
Dr. Garbe and trustees praised PTO volunteers for fundraising efforts and noted the district also received smaller mini‑grants and event revenue this year (the presenters named recent read‑a‑thon and gala totals in discussion). A speaker in the meeting also referred to a figure of "a little over $60,000" when describing one distribution of funds; administration said more detailed plans and timelines will be presented to the board in a future meeting.
Board members thanked PTO leadership and said formal recognition of volunteers is planned at the June 17 board meeting. Administration asked that further project specifics be developed and returned for formal approval of any expenditures.
