The subcommittee on June 3 reviewed the judicial reappointment process and recommended two municipal judges for reappointment.
Judge Hernandez explained the reappointment review: attorney and judge performance surveys are compiled and provided to presiding judges and to the judges themselves as part of the evaluation package. Council members asked about juror surveys and how results are used; Hernandez said juror feedback is collected after jury trials and incorporated into reports.
The committee then moved and approved recommendations to reappoint Judge Laura E. Lowry to a four-year term expiring Sept. 30, 2030, and Judge Tina Solomon to a four-year term expiring June 29, 2030. Committee members recorded voice votes in favor of both recommendations.
Next steps: the recommendations will follow the council’s normal reappointment procedures as recorded in the meeting minutes.
