The LaPorte County Board of Commissioners on June 3 approved several planning and ordinance items that had been recommended by staff or the planning commission.
Commissioners voted to adopt rezoning petitions for applicants identified as Watson and Johnson after noting prior planning‑commission recommendations and that there were no remonstrators on record. The board also approved Leeway LLC on second reading and arranged for signatures to be collected from the petitioner’s representative, Mr. Ambers.
Separately, staff raised re‑establishing the GIS advisory board to clarify the role of the newly hired GIS director and departmental responsibilities; the board agreed the advisory board should meet and appointed Commissioner Haney as the commissioners’ representative. The county council was asked to place a related item on its agenda.
Finally, commissioners approved and adopted corrected language described as typographical fixes to the county’s data‑center ordinance after Mr. Voltz reviewed the changes.
