Hamilton County commissioner outlines grants, organics pilot and opioid-settlement support for Forest Park

Dhouse emphasized that municipalities must apply to participate in county partnership grants and said Forest Park has successfully accessed multiple funding sources in recent years, including Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds, solid-waste program dollars and small-event grants. She noted an economic-impact program grant awarded in 2025—about $500,000—earmarked for the Forest Fair Mall site.
Dhouse also described county environmental services, including a scrap-tire program and a pilot study to divert organics (yard waste and food scraps) by partnering with farmers. The pilot is intended to scale if successful. She highlighted the county’s Office of Small Business (naming Greg Forte as a contact) for local business coaching and mentorship.
On public-health funding, Dhouse said Forest Park receives a direct allocation of opioid-settlement dollars and the county’s Office of Addiction Response can help communities administer those funds for Narcan distribution, prevention, treatment access and housing-related programs. She named Megan Guthrie as the county contact for further information and invited the city to participate in coalition planning.
Dhouse closed by noting a recommendation from the county tax-levy review committee to place an increased children's-services levy on the November ballot; commissioners will decide whether to proceed and public hearings were listed in the meeting (dates reported in the transcript as June 18, July 14 and July 16).
