Commission sets June 26 record close and July 1 recommendation date for Rio Washingtonian schematic plan

Staff reminded the commission that during a joint public hearing on January 5, 2026 the commission had left the record open indefinitely to allow the applicant time to obtain approvals for preliminary stormwater and erosion sediment control plans and to address comments raised during the hearing.
Staff said revised preliminaries are scheduled to be approved imminently and proposed that the commission set a record‑close date of 5:00 p.m. on June 26 and a commission recommendation to the mayor and council on July 1. Commissioners sought assurance that revised plans and staff responses would be posted in advance so the public may review them before the record closes; staff said the project page will be updated and materials made available prior to the June 26 close.
The commission voted in favor of the schedule and to close the record at the specified date and time. The planning commission will review the revised materials and then forward its recommendation to the mayor and council on July 1 as planned.
