Staff said the award is roughly $124,000 and the school district will contribute an additional $20,000; work will require studies and permitting with a goal of being operational by the end of 2025. Infrastructure staff committed to producing a timeline and public handouts so residents can track project milestones.
Separately, public‑safety speakers discussed weight‑enforcement tools for heavy trucks and how fines can be used to help fund road repairs. The chief described a recent stop where an overweight truck generated a fine of a little over $6,000; the chief said heavier trucks can incur fines in the $12,000–$15,000 range. Council discussed purchasing weight scales (cost estimates to be determined, and Wilkins Township was cited as a comparable program) and noted an enforcement program can generate revenue that can be applied to pavement and infrastructure repairs.
Mayor and council also discussed additional speed‑feedback signs, including a lower‑maintenance solar model; a retail price of about $18,000 per unit was mentioned as an example. Council flagged battery‑powered mobile signs' shorter run times in cold weather as a maintenance concern and suggested rotating smaller, less maintenance‑intensive units to high‑need locations.
Staff did not present final purchase orders or appropriation amounts at the workshop; council asked staff to return with more precise cost estimates and a recommended phasing plan.
