Council moves zoning public hearing to July 6; adopts Riverdale performance‑agreement amendment

Roanoke City Council on June 1 voted to continue the May 18 public hearing on proposed zoning text amendments. Councilman Vison moved to continue the hearing to Monday, July 6, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.; the motion was seconded by Councilman Hagen and adopted by roll call. The mayor said legal notices required for continuance will be published and that citizens who spoke on May 18 may speak on subsequent hearing nights but only once during the hearing process.
Later in the meeting the council considered Amendment No. 3 to a performance agreement among the city, the Roanoke Economic Development Authority and several Riverdale ownership entities to support redevelopment in southeast Roanoke. City Manager Miss Turner described the amendment as continuing the city’s partnership to support private investment in Riverdale and Southeast; the council voted to authorize city officials to execute the amendment and related documents.
Both votes were recorded by the deputy city clerk; motions passed by recorded vote with the council in favor.
