Chair Pamela Albert opened the recognitions by calling up Calvin Vincent to acknowledge his two years of service as the committee’s student representative and his extracurricular and academic achievements. Superintendent Sue Doris summarized the retirees’ contributions, saying, “Tonight, we take a moment to recognize and celebrate the dedicated individuals whose commitment to the Auburn School Department has helped shape generations of students,” and noted the group’s combined 315 years of service.
Retirees honored included transportation staff member Barry Remlard (multiple years driving special education routes), library specialist Nancy Morrow (27 years at Fairview and Walton), Park Avenue teachers Lorie/Lori Elliott and Kim St. Pierre (19 and 40 years respectively), nutrition services manager Michelle Deion (32 years), and a series of Auburn Middle School and Edward Little High School staff including James Row (35 years), Robera O’Neal (32 years in special education), Douglas Gleason (13 years at ELHS) and administrative staff Wendy Sherman and Nancy Seir (long-serving central-office roles). Presenters highlighted specific programs and contributions: James Row’s robotics and Odyssey of the Mind leadership and Jim’s fundraising for national competitions; Nancy Seir’s long role overseeing the Edward Little budget; and staff efforts to support graduation logistics and summer meal programs.
School leaders offered anecdotes and expressions of gratitude, noting how many retirees mentored colleagues and built programs that reached beyond classrooms. The committee recessed briefly after the ceremony before returning to the business portion of the meeting.
The committee did not take formal votes related to the retirements; the recognitions were ceremonial. The meeting proceeded to other agenda business after the recognitions concluded.
