Select Board appoints registrars and multiple committee members, negotiates voting role on Community Events Committee

The Wareham Select Board appointed Carolyn McCclure as an unenrolled registrar of voters and named William Scott Parr and Michael Mercier to the Conservation Commission; it reappointed James Munes to the Affordable Housing Trust and adjusted terms and rescissions for seats on the Wareham Redevelopment Authority and the Community Events Committee.
The Select Board on June 2 approved several appointments and reappointments to town committees.
Carolyn McCclure introduced herself and the board voted to appoint her as an unenrolled registrar of voters through June 30, 2029.
William Scott Parr (who said his first name is William and that he goes by Scott) was appointed an associate member of the Conservation Commission for a one-year term beginning July 1, 2026. Michael Mercier was also appointed to the Conservation Commission with a term to expire June 30, 2029. The board reappointed James Munes to the Wareham Affordable Housing Trust with a term to expire June 30, 2028.
Members discussed whether a select board liaison should be a voting member of the Community Events Committee. Several members voiced concern about a potential conflict when a committee-recommended event later appears before the Select Board for final approval. To address that concern, the board agreed to appoint Select Board member Sarah Corbett as a voting member with a term to expire Dec. 30, 2026, pending the committee’s proposed bylaw change to reduce voting membership.
The board also rescinded prior longer-term appointments and reappointed Sarah Corbett and Judith Whiteside as Select Board representatives to the Wareham Redevelopment Authority with terms expiring June 30, 2027. All motions carried on roll call.
