Staff described five priorities identified through interdepartmental review: a backup generator for pump and lift stations, replacement of a severe-weather siren at the community center, stormwater mitigation work (including a targeted project at Main and Rose), and other storm-water and infrastructure items to reduce flood risk. "It is a backup generator for the pump and the lift station," the chief summarized while listing priorities.
Council moved to adopt Resolution 2025-005 to authorize entry into the county mitigation planning process and to pursue FEMA grant funding for the listed projects. The motion carried.
Officials said the projects are intended to make critical infrastructure more resilient in severe weather and to position the village to compete for federal mitigation dollars. Council did not provide specific dollar awards for each line item during the meeting; staff indicated the items are being submitted to the county as part of multi‑jurisdictional grant requests to FEMA.
