Following that recap, Commissioner Gwen Haney moved to revise the fall community-service subcommittee membership to include Sheree, Anthony, Julie and Gwen as chair; Julie McCoy seconded the motion and the commission approved the change. Commissioners emphasized the subcommittee will supplement city staff rather than replace staff responsibilities for larger logistics; the new PIO/community-relations manager and future staff will continue to be the primary staff leads.
Commissioners asked staff to plan more outreach and scheduling lead time for future service projects (a recommended planning window of about two months) and to coordinate projects with schools and community partners to increase volunteer participation.
