"I do plan to resign as of tonight," Gross told the board and attendees, then thanked family and the community for their support. Trustees responded with personal remarks about her mentorship and leadership.
The board read and entered a formal proclamation honoring Gross's public service record, which the proclamation describes as including election as trustee in 1990 and a term as mayor beginning in 1993. The proclamation also cites Gross's long involvement in public health and community volunteerism and indicated she has served in numerous local organizations. Former mayor Robert Malone and others presented archival material and spoke in tribute.
Mayor Kevin Adams and trustees praised Gross for her decades-long stewardship and arranged a reception at the close of the meeting; trustees then moved to adjourn.
