Board reviews draft 2026 budget, hears treasurer on taxes and cemetery accounts

The treasurer reported that current tax collection is complete and that the file of delinquent accounts has been handed to the delinquent-tax collector for follow-up. She said the cemetery commission voted to close three old accounts the auditors identified as obsolete and to move the small combined balances (under $10,000) into active accounts.
Board members discussed how several invoice items that are not yet finalized (for example, certain insurance lines) were carried forward at last year’s amounts for planning purposes; staff said they will adjust figures as final invoices and quotes arrive. The treasurer gave a comparative delinquent-tax update and described current totals as close to last year’s, noting figures were in flux as recent payments were posted.
Members were reminded that budget day is Saturday and that the town will follow up with departments and contractors as quotes and bids are finalized.
