The Morrison County Board appointed Greg Colom to the county Planning Commission and Board of Adjustment to complete the remainder of John Cornelius's term after a motion by Commissioner Moran and a second by Commissioner Winer.
Amy from Land Services told the board the appointment was recommended by Commissioner Moran and Land Services; staff noted Colom resigned from an intermittent public-works maintenance roster to meet the requirement that commission members not be county employees.
The board also considered an after-the-fact conditional use permit request from Jeff and Melissa Garley to continue using a detached garage as an expanded dining area for The Landing restaurant. The Planning Commission recommended approval with three conditions: the garage area be used for patron seating only (no music or other entertainment), the garage be used only May–September, and the property owner submit a septic-system design within 30 days of flow-measurement completion and install the system within 90 days of an approved design.
Commissioner Lamir moved approval of the CUP with the stated conditions; Commissioner Casper seconded. The board approved the permit with those conditions.
Both the appointment and the CUP were approved by voice/roll-call vote during the meeting.
