He also relayed an account that a nearby business (reported to the council as UPS) saw revenue decline by about $13,000 in a month because of construction-related disruptions and unclear signage.
Other council members and a speaker with prior board-of-works experience responded that contract writing and oversight occur at the board-of-works level and noted ongoing efforts to tighten contracts; they asked the public for patience as major seasonal construction work continues. Several council members urged improved communication and quicker sign updates to reduce confusion for drivers and businesses.
The council did not adopt new contract-penalty language at this meeting; members requested additional follow-up and better signage coordination with project managers.
