The Village Board on June 2 approved Resolution 2026-023 permitting the Flip Circus to hold performances at Hawthorne Mall. Director Jennings said the show is a smaller "boutique" tent about half the size of last year's production (capacity around 800 versus 1,800) and that staff negotiated a rehearsal-volume condition to address concerns from nearby residents.
Carlos Deagarza, the circus representative, told the board the group ran a similar event at the same location last year, that the smaller tent will still offer the same quality entertainment and that the run will last about 11 days with tickets ranging from $30 to $70. He confirmed the performance will not involve animals.
The resolution was approved by roll call (Trustees Markwart, Oppenheim, Forester, Lundine and President Cook voting yes). Staff said event logistics, capacity and the rehearsal sound condition are included in the permit.
