Planning staff said the Planning Commission had recommended approval by a 7–1 vote, but the applicant requested additional time and adjacent stakeholders, including a church, have ongoing concerns.
Council discussion covered whether to open the public hearing the same evening; staff recommended the public hearing "travel" with the postponement so interested parties could speak when the item returns. Council agreed to postpone to the September 1 meeting to allow continued discussions between the property owner, the church and the applicant; staff said that, other than applicant withdrawal, no legal action could occur during the postponement period.
