Wolf said the artist’s design includes irises and smaller supporting elements and noted she can email higher-resolution images to board members. She described a preference by some property owners for removable panels rather than painting directly onto brick and said the board has panels available for owners who do not want permanent paint on their building surfaces.
Members discussed other downtown façade topics during general business. Suggestions included incorporating mosaic elements, matching neighboring stone and clapboard textures, and installing a façade or faux front to improve the appearance of an empty lot and nearby buildings. Several members reminded property owners to bring proposed façade designs to the board for review before altering historic materials; the board reiterated that paint on historic brick can peel and that surface preparation matters.
There was no formal vote on mural approvals at this meeting; members agreed to review final designs and paint palettes at a future session. Wolf said she expects the mural panels or painted treatment to be ready in August and will coordinate with property owners and participating artists.
