Civil Air Patrol asks council for temporary meeting space as squadron grows to 42 cadets

Lieutenant Jenny Rumple, commander of the Fort Ben Composite Squadron (Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary), asked the council for temporary meeting space after the squadron’s hanger room will become unavailable during construction.
Rumph explained the youth program has grown from five cadets to “over 42 cadetses right now” and runs multiple programs including orientation flights, cyber security training and robotics. She said the squadron has contacted more than 30 potential meeting sites without success and asked whether room B at the town park might be made available on a temporary basis.
Town staff said they would explore options and that Florence May and other staff had discussed potential temporary space. Councilmembers encouraged staff to try to accommodate the group while it searches for a permanent meeting site.
Rumph said the unit provides community services such as color guard at local events and emphasized the program’s volunteer and youth development mission.
