The Knox County Board of Commissioners voted to approve the draft contract for the federal "Safer Streets for All" grant and authorized staff to issue a request for proposals (RFP) to begin procurement.
County staff explained the federal government prepared the contract and will provide a clean copy after sign-off; the board agreed to approve the draft in the packet and permit the county president to sign the official clean copy when it is returned. Staff reported three companies had already expressed interest in responding to the RFP. The board directed staff to proceed with public engagement and set up a committee to review proposals and hold public meetings on grant-funded improvements once a contractor is selected.
Commissioners approved the draft and authorized distribution of the RFP by voice vote. The county will finalize federal sign-off and the president will sign the executed agreement when available.
