Oldham County approves two-year jail medical contract with Southern Health Partners at 3% increase

Oldham County Fiscal Court voted June 2 to approve a renewed contract with Southern Health Partners to provide medical services to the county jail, accepting a negotiated 3% annual rate increase and a two-year price lock.
Jeff Tindle presented the contract to the court and said Southern Health Partners initially sought a 4% increase. "What I did when they said that I told them I would like to stay a 3% increase ... and I got two years locked in at 3%," Tindle said. He told the court the contract sets a per-diem rate of $77 per inmate after the first 300 inmates and listed a base contract amount of $768,369 for the July 2026–June 2027 period.
A magistrate moved to approve the contract and the court approved it by voice vote. The judge and other members thanked Tindle for negotiating a lower increase and noted a 25% reduction from earlier figures was achieved in some elements of the proposal.
The contract now moves to the Sheriff’s Office and jail administration for execution and operational oversight. Officials said they will monitor inmate census and per-diem costs and report back to the court as the contract is implemented.
What’s next: County staff will finalize and sign the contract, begin the two-year term in July and monitor monthly costs against the jail population and budget allowances.
