Commissioners declare county technology surplus ahead of October disposal event

KARNES COUNTY — The commissioners declared 37 desktop towers, 19 monitors, multiple printers, copiers, scanners and ancillary peripherals surplus and authorized the IT department to oversee recycling, sale or disposal of the items.
Commissioner Beatatric said the San Antonio River Authority will again help front the cost of disposal and that VH Tech Works would pick up, destroy or recycle the equipment and provide paperwork confirming proper disposition. She noted IT should have an opportunity to check the list to ensure no items would be useful to other departments before final disposal.
A motion to approve item eight as presented was made and seconded; the court voted unanimously to carry the motion. The approved action allows IT discretion to recycle, sell, or reuse items and to coordinate with the River Authority's hazardous-waste event.
