Town staff announces update to 2018 housing study and temporary pause on large projects
Summary
Plainfield staff told the Plan Commission on May 4 that the town will update its 2018 housing study to reassess local supply and demand; while the study is completed, the town is pausing some larger developments that require major public investment.
Kevin Whaley of the planning staff told the commission the town will conduct an updated housing study to capture changes since the 2018 analysis, including evolving demographics, housing preferences and recently approved units. Whaley said the update will provide a current snapshot to guide policy and clarified that the town has placed a pause on larger housing projects that require substantial public infrastructure investment while the study is underway.
Staff asked commissioners to direct developers and property owners with questions to planning staff for further detail during the study period.
