The Housing and Homelessness Committee approved several items on consent and recessed to closed session on a legal matter.
The clerk read the consent calendar items that the committee approved: a mayoral reappointment of Tanisha Saunders to the Los Angeles Housing Services Authority Commission for a term ending June 30, 2029; a mayoral reappointment of Charles Stringer to the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority Commission for a term ending June 30, 2029; and an administrative oversight committee recommendation authorizing the Los Angeles Housing Department to issue an extension to the Proposition HH funding commitment letter for the Chavez Garden project at 2518–2536 East Cesar Chavez in Council District 14. Items 1, 2 and 5 were approved on consent by roll call.
Separately, the committee noted and filed the CAO report attached to item 6. The committee then recessed to closed session under Government Code section 54956.9(d)(1) to confer with legal counsel on the matter titled SR West Pico v. City of Los Angeles, a petition for writ of administrative mandate related to rent stabilization designation. Upon returning from closed session the city attorney announced, "There was no reportable action." The matter remains pending in Budget and Finance and Housing committees.
The clerk handled roll calls for consent and for later votes; committee votes recorded four members in favor with one absent.
