La Grange parks office rolls out 'Power of La Grange' summer passport; community day details announced

Parks & Recreation Director Sandy updated the La Grange Town Board on June 3 about community day and a new summer program called the 'Power of LaGrange.'
Sandy said community day, scheduled for next Saturday, will include expanded activities for children, a 'touch a truck' display arranged with the highway superintendent, and a vendor contest encouraging patriotic table displays. She reported sponsorships have rebounded strongly from the pandemic, noting the introduction of a $2,000 sponsorship tier (half of which will support community day and half reserved for other major events) plus several $1,000 sponsors.
Sandy also previewed the 'Power of LaGrange' July initiative, which will highlight five themes (play, nature, community, well-being, discovery) through stories, photos and events, and will include a free 'summer passport' booklet of self-guided activities available beginning at community day. Program materials were produced in-house by the department's marketing director, Tracy Meyer, Sandy said.
Councilman John Grasso reminded residents that registration for Freedom 2 50 opens tomorrow and asked potential sponsors to contact the recreation office. The board encouraged resident participation and thanked volunteers and staff helping to stage the events.
No formal vote was required for the announcements.
