La Grange Town Board on June 3 approved a slate of routine personnel, fee and parks items and set a special meeting to consider litigation.
The board voted to set the hourly rate for the Heavy Motor Equipment Operator position at $40.06 for Darren Hoffman after the highway superintendent explained the title reflects work Hoffman has been performing. The board approved the resolution by voice vote.
The board also adopted a new nonresident annual membership for the senior drop-in center at $60 per year. The board approved a prorated rate of $30 for memberships purchased between July 1 and Dec. 31, replacing a $2-per-day fee for nonresidents; the town emphasized residents will retain first-priority registration for limited activities such as bus trips, with nonresidents able to sign up afterward.
A bench donation at Stringham Park from the Feldman and Klein families to honor a family member was approved; Parks staff were directed to coordinate final logistics and plaque details with the family.
Other approvals included: revised planning and zoning fees effective June 3, 2026; authorization for Justice Steven O’Hare to attend the New York State Magistrate Conference in Albany (Sept. 27–30, 2026) at a cost not to exceed $1,176; expenditure of LPI funds to replace the Overlook Park Clubhouse sign (GNS Group quote, $1,289.70, includes removal and installation); and payment for a Parks staff member, Stacy Lehi, to attend a Red Cross water-safety instructor trainer program so the town can host in-house instructor training and potentially offer classes to neighboring municipalities.
The board also set a special public meeting for June 8 at 4 p.m. to consider a stipulation settlement in Town of LaGrange v. Mid Hudson Construction Management, Index No. 202450648; one board member abstained on the scheduling vote.
The actions were taken by voice votes with the chair declaring the respective resolutions passed.
