The Modesto City Council on June 2 approved a range of routine actions in a single vote.
What passed (high-level): the council accepted the resignation of Elizabeth Brenstro from the Entertainment Commission; approved the retroactive reappointments of Amanda Heitinger and Maria Apadaka to the Downtown Improvement District advisory board (four-year terms through Dec. 31, 2029); and approved the consent calendar (items 4'24), which contained the final adoption of ordinance 3814 CS adjusting mayor and council compensation, multiple engineers'reports and notices of hearings, contract and purchase approvals (including a $839,492 REAP 2.0 suballocation agreement), vehicle and equipment purchases not to exceed $1,435,294 and various maintenance/support agreements.
Motions and outcomes: Item 2 (accept resignation) was moved by Council Member Wright, seconded by Council Member Ricky and carried unanimously. Item 3 (reappointments) was moved and seconded on the record and carried unanimously. The consent calendar was moved by Vice Mayor Williams, seconded by Council Member Ricky and carried unanimously on roll call.
Why it matters: the consent calendar implements administrative changes, updates to code and policies, routine procurement and program funding that keep city government operating; the salary ordinance updates were forwarded following the citizen salary setting commission recommendations.
