Council authorizes application for Strong Communities grant to fund housing rehab and demolition

Scott and Jessica Biddenstat (grant supervisor) described prior rounds of participation, past demolition work, challenges finding contractors for reconstruction, and a proposed request of $480,000 that would be used as follows: $15,000 for acquisition costs, $125,000 for rehabilitation work, and demolition funding up to $40,000 per house (up to five houses referenced). Jessica said the grant allows a 10% administration fee to help fund grant administration.
"This grant allows 10% administration...we can work with our land bank to apply for this grant," staff said. Council moved, seconded and authorized staff to submit the application; staff said they would refine application details and administration responsibilities with regional partners if needed.
