Porter Career Center presents certificates to Lakemore Police for student mentorship

Harold Britt, law and criminal justice instructor at the Porter Career Center, presented certificates of appreciation to Chief Smith and Officer Ronald Gilbert in recognition of their support and mentorship of students.
"I'm Harold Britt. I'm the law and criminal justice instructor for the Porter Career Center," Britt said before presenting the awards and praising the officers' involvement with the program. Britt told council the partnership has benefited both students and instructors and thanked the Lakemore Police Department for freeing officers to attend the advisory work and classroom activities.
Chief Smith and Officer Ronald Gilbert accepted the recognition; the mayor and council members thanked the career center and noted the visible positive relationship between students and the department. The presentation led council to briefly suspend regular business to allow the recognition and then resume normal agenda items.
The certificates cited ‘‘outstanding partnership, dedication and invaluable contribution to the education and professional development of the next generation of law enforcement professionals.’' Council members voiced appreciation for the program and the officers' participation.
