The Elizabethtown Area School District board approved multiple action items in a grouped vote, moved forward with a contract for substitute services with STS, accepted personnel recommendations including a new principal appointment, and approved an expulsion waiver for a student charged with possession of a weapon.
A motion to group consent items (minutes, service agreements, emergency generator service, pest control, NRG controls agreement, Lancaster County Academy proposed budget, donations, yearly appointments, flexible instructional days, trauma counselor contract and second‑reading policies) passed and the grouped items were approved by roll call.
The board separately approved contracting with STS for substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. Mr. Lindamouth and Mrs. Carter abstained from that vote citing employment connections with the company; the remaining members voted yes. The administration and board noted the abstentions on the record.
The personnel report was approved after a presentation by Mr. Strickler; the appointment of Derek Whitmer as principal at East High Elementary was announced and the board thanked departing principal Amanda Baxter. The board also approved an expulsion waiver for student #2025262, who waived a board hearing and accepted the administration’s recommended expulsion for a minimum of 45 school days for a weapon possession charge under Policy 218.1.
Ending: The board concluded voting on consent items and moved to closing business and adjournment; administration will finalize contract typos and prepare final budget and policy edits as directed.
