The Osawatomie City Council approved its consent agenda on May 28 after a motion by Councilman Bratton and a second from Councilman Dickinson. The council then opened an extended public-comment period focused on a proposed pre-development agreement for a large data-center project.
Speakers used the public-comment period to press the council for transparency, to request release of the community-benefits analysis and to urge safeguards such as enforceable limits on water and electricity usage, independent environmental review and protections for adjacent properties and institutions. City staff told attendees a press release should be issued shortly and that a town-hall question-and-answer session with the developer and city officials would be scheduled within about a month. The council did not vote on the data-center proposal during the meeting and later adjourned after the public-comment period ended.
